David and Nan Stillwell of Hewitt have a secret admirer; a mystery encourager. The Stillwell’s, who own and operate the Sunshine Elevator and Feed Store in Hewitt, have been receiving notes of encouragement from this mystery person “since before Thanksgiving,” according to Nan. “They are usually notes of encouragement or just to wish us a good day. They are usually on the door before we come in the morning,” said Nan.
The Bertha-Hewitt School 6-8 grades participated in the Bertha and Hewitt Lions and Hewitt Lioness sponsored Mid-Winter Poster Contest. The grand prize winner was Stacy Denny who received $25 and the runner-up was Becky Shaw who received $15. Dawn Shaw will also be taking her poster to the Mid-Winter convention as three posters from each sponsor are accepted. Judges for the event were Bev Booen, president of the Hewitt Lioness; Bob Budahn, secretary of the Hewitt Lions; and Diane Schultz, Bertha Lions Club.
Should the city of Hewitt get a computer to do the city’s accounting and bookwork on? And if they do get one, where will they keep it? A computer and programs were figured into the budget that was approved for the coming fiscal year. “Where are we going to put it? I can’t even see building a city hall,” said Councilman Steve Peterson. Mayor Harold Tritsch then said, “Well, we might be getting one.”
