25 Years Ago

January 17, 1996

The Bertha-Hewitt Drama Club will be performing its one-act play “The Love Course” by A.R. Gurney Jr. on Saturday, January 20, at 8 p.m. at the Bertha-Hewitt School. The play is directed by Mr. Tim Hjemland. Student actors are Chris Chase as Professor Burgess, Heidi Blashack as Sally, Jill Samuelson as Miss Carroway, and Matt Tyrell as Mike. Student directors are Lee Current, Beth Blashack, and David Adams.

The New York Mills Eagles won the region conference by defeating the BHV Raiders 38-26. Several BHV Raiders improved their season record: Joe Richter (103) 12-4, Eric Bertram (140) 14-2 and Brent Captain (160) 11-6.


75 Years Ago

January 17, 1946

Two local residents, Mrs. Eunice Mitton and Mr. A.J. Hilpert, were honored at the regular meeting of the Commercial Club when Frank L. King of Long Prairie, chairman of the War Finance Committee for Todd County, on behalf of the United State Treasury Department, presented each with a silver medal in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the eight bond drives.
