Leroy Morrow is a common sight working in his yard on West Fifth Street. You can find Leroy tinkering and tuning old mowers, tillers and chain saws most days. While Leroy does work on newer machines most of the stock you will see are old relics resurrected from the verge of extinction, circa 1950s and 60s. Leroy explained that if the running gear is good you can always put a rebuilt motor on the machines.

Todd County Commissioners were told that the problems with heating, cooling and ventilation systems at the detention center were already there before construction started on the new court facility, located above the detention center. Jack Boarman, the architect for the court facility, told commissioners at their regular meeting, “I was hired to do court projects, and I did that at a cost-effective job. We did a quality job. If we’d had another $100,000, we could have upgraded the system. The problems were there before we walked on the job.”

You may have seen this pair around town lately, searching for the illusive Browerville Days Medallion. As of Monday morning, the lucky disc had not been found, but Daniel Hermanson and Brandon Betts were determined to keep searching. In fact, Daniel said he had been searching since before the clues were published. Daniel comes from a lucky family as he said his mom, Shelly, found the medallion twice, Daniel found it once, his cousins found it once and then his mom and a friend found it.

All of the Browerville runners who entered the 21st running Grandma’s Marathon 26.2 miles, on Saturday, June 21, finished the competition under brutally hot conditions that sent over 500 people to the first aid tent, many for heat stroke and dehydration. This was believed to be the hottest Grandma’s with a temperature of 75 degrees by 10 a.m. and a humidity of 98 percent. Finishing their first marathon were Stephanie Jeziorski, Mary Day-Irsfeld, Terry Fahrendorf, Jerome Smieja and James Rolfs.
