25 Years Ago

February 12, 1998

Minnesota Power crews from Little Falls, Park Rapids and Nisswa assisted the Long Prairie personnel in converting the downtown Browerville area voltage on Thursday. Bringing in extra men and equipment enabled service to be restored safely and well ahead of schedule. A Minnesota Power spokesperson indicated that for the next two to three weeks they’ll be concentrating their efforts on the west side of Highway 71. Customers will be notified of power outages. The crews expressed appreciation for the understanding of their Browerville customers as they are inconvenienced. Operations Chief Curt Hanson called a meeting of the area crew prior to powering up to make sure everyone was clear of the lines. All systems were go by 11:30 a.m.

75 Years Ago

February 12, 1948

The 39th annual convention of the Central Minnesota Dairymen and Creamery Operators Assn. was held at the Hotel St. Cloud on February 3-4. The judges of entries were M.E. Gardner of Waseca, a state butter judge; Frank Eldred of Browerville; and O.S. Hagen of Minneapolis, a federal butter judge.

The Browerville Commercial Club held its second regular meeting for this year Friday evening, February 6, at the city hall with 40 members present. Various matters of business were brought before the membership. The club will meet hereafter on the first Thursday of each month. Standing Committees and members of the Browerville Commercial Club: Retail: Henry Brenny, chairman; Lloyd Bergh, E.F. Deskins, Walter Kotula, B.V. Meyman, Clifford Johnson, Ed F.
