25 Years Ago

March 11, 1999

Larry Gorron is the foreman of a six man crew that began constructing the new Browerville water tower in early February. The 300,000 gallon tank weighs 95,000 pounds. It will be 95 feet tall when the job is finished. It will be hoisted up by a crane. The job should be completed by mid-summer. The crew was off on Monday due to a snowstorm, but still they expect to finish on time.

The Tigers started tournament play last Monday night, March 1, as they defeated Brandon-Evansville, 59-46. Pacing the Tigers were Mitch Johnson with 17 points, Dan Jonckowski with 12 points and Jeremy Reed netted 10 points.


75 Years Ago

March 10, 1949

Thursday, March 17, at the Paderowski Hall, the senior class of Browerville High School will present a St. Patrick’s Day Variety Show, on St. Patrick’s Day. Members of the various committees have been working especially hard to make this program worth your while. The program will include members of the high school band, choral and various instrumental numbers including Donald Madges and his accordion.

About four hundred patrons, stockholders and friends of the Browerville Farmer’s Cooperative Creamery attended the annual creamery meeting held at St. Peter’s Church basement last Thursday to hear the report on a good year’s business. The report, issued by Secretary John Gmyrek, showed the sale of dairy products had yielded $499,393.79.
