25 Years Ago

May 4, 2000

The Freshwater Education District Regional Art Fair was held in conjunction with the 36th annual Staples Rotary Arts and Crafts Show from April 27-30 in the Centennial Auditorium. Junior high award winners from Browerville included: Bonnie Carlson, second place in pottery; Katie Brichacek, first place; and Jeff Rinde, second place in sculpture. A Merit Award was given to Joseph Leprince in drawing. Bonnie Carlson also received two Merit Awards for her pottery. This gave her ribbon awards for all three of her pottery entries which was exceptional.

The Tigers could only muster up one hit versus the Rebels from Eagle Valley. The Tigers fell by the score of 5-1 at the Rebels’ field. They were held to just one hit by Kim Salber. They made contact but the hits just didn’t fall for them.


75 Years Ago

May 4, 1950

A new $1500 grand piano was delivered to the Browerville High School last week. This piano is a gift from the Browerville Vets Club to the school for the new auditorium. The purchase was made from Skalman Music Company of Wadena. It is a five foot, two inch, Kimball Colonial Grand in mahogany finish and will make a fine addition to the stage in the auditorium.

The Joe Poplinski produce building is being given a complete remodeling at this time which will facilitate better handling of your produce and the building will present a very pleasing appearance when finished. Erickson and Poplinski are buyers for the Litchfield Produce Company.
