25 Years Ago

May 11, 2000

Six members of the Browerville FFA Chapter participated in career development events at the U of M, St. Paul and Minneapolis campus, on April 30 and May 1-2. Representing Browerville in the poultry contest were Ryan Baron, Candy Buhl, Kristine Blommel and Chris Isaac. The poultry team placed 15th out of 35 teams and received a silver ribbon.

Tigers baseball versus USA—Leading Hitter: J. Brisson, M. Johnson, R. Michael, B. Lieser, R. Gritz, J. Lieser-all had one single. Pitchers: R. Gritz: pitched 3 innings, SO 3, walks 2, hits 3, earned runs 0. B. Lieser: pitched 4 innings, SO 3, walks 2, hits 2, earned runs 0. Mitch Lieser made a stop at 2nd base to stop a run from scoring in the top of the 7th. This held them to allow us to win the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.


75 Years Ago

May 11, 1950

The annual school election to elect school board members will be held at the Browerville High School auditorium on Tuesday, May 16. The terms of two present members expire. With the close of filings on Thursday, May 4, it was announced only two filed for office. Jos. F. John and Peter Plotnik, whose terms expire this year have filed to succeed themselves.

The Park Theatre at Clarissa wishes to notify the public that a change of program has been made for May 12-13. The new show is “Green Grass of Wyoming,” by Mary O’Hara, author of “My Friend Flicka,” and “Thunderhead, Son of Flicka,” in place of “Sergeant York,” as advertised on their calendars for May.
