Memorial Day was observed Monday with the traditional parade, followed by a ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery. Tom Oven was the Master of Ceremonies. Local families and weekend visitors attended the event to honor our fallen veterans.

Commencement for the Browerville High School class of 2000 were held Sunday, May 28, for 63 graduates. Opening remarks were given by Michael Woeste, and Rawney Thompson gave the student commencement address and closing remarks were by Andrea Geraets.

Paul Naumann of Paynesville has opened a plumbing and heating shop in the Larson building on north Main Street. Your patronage will be greatly appreciated. We welcome this new business to our community and wish him the best of luck.

Three communities in Todd County will be included in the itinerary of the U.S. Savings Bonds Independence Drive symbol, the Liberty Bell, it has been announced by Frank L. King, county chairman. The bell will make stops in Todd County on Wednesday, June 28: Staples from 2:30-3 p.m., Hewitt 3:30-3:45 p.m., and Long Prairie from 5 p.m. through the evening.
