Lynn Ollman retired from the Browerville Public School this year after teaching social studies for quite a long time. It was her first and only school she taught at. Ollman also coached many different sports such as track, basketball and volleyball.

The Kahlert Oil Company is going out of business after 49 years of service. Thomas Kahlert said recently, “Thank you to all the customers that have come here over the years from Edward, Lawrence and I.” Kahlert said the reason they are going out of business was because it wasn’t cost effective to give into the upgrade rules that the Environmental Protection Agency were enforcing.

July 6, 1950
Harold Iten and Lyle Hennen, members of the local Boy Scout troop, have been attending the National Boy Scout jamboree at Valley Forge, PA for the past 10 days. They joined a train in St. Cloud carrying over 500 scouts. President Truman addressed them on Friday. They toured the nation’s capitol, Chicago, Philadelphia and other parts of Pennsylvania. They also enjoyed a site seeing trip to New York City and an evening baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

According to information received from August F. Koep, census supervisor of Brainerd, the population of Todd County as counted in the census taken this past spring is now 25,410. This is a preliminary count and is not official. The Todd County census count in 1940 was 27,438.
