Residents of the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa lined up last week to judge the annual pet parade. The lovely weather and delightful participants were enjoyed by all. Jennie and Christopher Buhl posed with their dog Shadow. Denver Korteum brought his pet goat to the parade.

Marine Corps Pvt. Dennis D Capistrant, son of LaWanna and John Capistrant of rural Browerville, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Capistrant successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

Ben Nelson and son, Elmer, are having a public auction sale of their livestock, machinery, horses, etc., on Saturday, September 9, at their farm located two miles straight north of Browerville and five miles east of Clarissa. Volunteer workers throughout the five-state area including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota are completing their second week of solicitation for the annual Sister Elizabeth Kenny Foundation polio fund appeal, which got underway August 21. The $791,080 which these workers hope to raise is necessary to carry out Sister Kenny Foundation’s all-out program in the fight against polio for another year. Todd County co-chairman is Mrs. Arnold Lawin of Burtrum.
