25 Years Ago

November 23, 2000

The Browerville Lions braved the cold for their annual tree lighting on Monday evening. Each year the Lions light all the trees on Main Street to ring in the holiday season. Pictured are: Jim Hauge, Walt Lucas, Quinten Burt and Allen Hoelsher.

Roger and Marge Weske announced the sale of Weske’s Barber in recent days. The Weskes bought the Barber Shop from Gordon and Bernice Johnson in September 1957, so now 43 plus years later, the new owner is Louis Gramsey. As time changes things, in 1957, Roger was the youngest businesses owner/operator in town and now is the oldest.

75 Years Ago

November 23, 1950

The Browerville Commercial Club met at the city hall last Wednesday evening with a goodly number of members present. A nominating committee composed of Leroy Thompson, John Kahlert, C.R. Taylor, Al Hynnek and Henry Brenny, was appointed by the Club President Sylvester Lamusga, to nominate two new directors to be elected at the next meeting in December.

Twenty ladies representative of the parish societies met last Wednesday to organize a campaign for the collection of clothes, shoes, socks, underwear, blankets and bedding for the suffering people of Korea during the week of November 19 to 26, to be conducted under the supervision and sponsorship of the St. Joseph Parish Collection Committee of Browerville.
