Leonard Fleckir kept busy shoveling out after our nearly daily snowfall. By the end of December, we had received more snow than the entire winter of 1999-2000.

Increases in salaries were approved for all Todd County elected officials for 2001. County Attorney Gaylord Saetre’s salary will increase from $71,388 to $72,244. Auditor/Treasurer Kathryn Gresser’s salary will go from $56,650 to $59,060. As part of a three step agreement made last year, both County Recorder Cheryl Perish and Sheriff David Kircher received an additional $1000. Kircher will also receive $5000 to administer the Emergency Management Services program in the county.

George Lehner, Todd County treasurer since last June, was arrested on a complaint from the State Public Examiner for misappropriating public funds and falsifying records. The arrest was made last week Wednesday. It is alleged by the auditor that his audit shows a shortage of $1688.62 and that the amount may be considerably more.

The Browerville Young Farmers will resume their meetings and will meet on Tuesday, January 9, at 8 o’clock. The discussion for this meeting will be repair and upkeep of farm machinery, and movies, lunch and basketball are also on the schedule. Agricultural instruction will be given by Mr. Lind.
