25 Years Ago

January 18, 2001

Officer Grant Eldred introduced himself to the Browerville City Council during their regular January meeting. Grant, who comes from a family of police officers, joined his father, Chuck Eldred, as a member of the Todd County Sheriff’s Department. Grant will be on duty 20 hours a week in Browerville.

January 20, 2001 will be a very special day as it is the day president elect George W. Bush will be sworn into office. It will also be a very special day for the Browerville Public Schools as the upper classmen of the high school will be in Minneapolis at the Merriot Hotel in the Grand Portage Ballroom as special guests at the State Veterans of Foreign Wars convention. The school has been invited to present a portion of the annual Veterans Day program at the VFW State Convention banquet.

75 Years Ago

September 28, 1951

The Browerville Sportsmen’s Club has been allotted some corn for the purpose of feeding the pheasants in this area. Farmers or anyone who wishes to feed the pheasants can pick up this corn at Al Poplinski’s where it is available.

Eighteen boys from the Browerville community will leave Long Prairie on Sunday, January 21, with the 194th Tank Batallion of the National Guard for Camp Rucker, Ozark, Alabama, for active duty. The boys are: Jean T. John, Wilfrid J. Lucas, Edward M. Eisenbraun, Allen LeClair, Dean A. Paskewitz, Douglas O. Biskey, Walter W. Borgen, Robert S. Drayna, Raymond G. Gonsior, David R. Kastonek, John L. Kowal, Vern J. Kowal, Donald J. Lemm, Herbert D. May, David F. Raudzis, Lenhardt O. Eisenbraun, James J. Steinmetz, and Kent E. John.
