News from Browerville's Past

March 1, 2001

Spruce Hill County Park, located between Browerville and Miltona, was established by the Douglas County Commissioners in 1980. The well kept ball field hosts a team more often than not. In the rolling wooded land behind the ball field, it’s rare to find an unoccupied picnic table. Thanks to efforts by the Douglas County Public Works Department and the Douglas County Historical Society, visitors can park their cars at Spruce Hill Swedish Lutheran Church, walk down the Otter Trail into the peaceful and abandoned village of Spruce Hill.

The Browerville FFA Chapter recognized National FFA Week by making charitable donations of $150 dollars to the Browerville Food Shelf and to the Browerville Fire Department. The money was raised through the chapter’s fruit sales. Pictured are: Amanda Baron, Joan Perish, David Bueckers, Sara Abrahamson, Ryan Baron and Candy Buhl.

The mail was crowded the past weekend when over 800,000 sheets of Easter Seals and accompanying appeal letters were sent out. The seals, sent out annually by the Minnesota Society for Crippled Children and Adults, will begin the 1951 Easter Seal campaign which will run from February 25 to March 25.
