Browerville Superintendent Larry Werder presented to the board that the Browerville School District will have 37 new students through transfers, open enrollment and families moving into the Browerville School District.

The Clarissa Lions Club has been chosen as a recipient for the 2000 Acts of Kindness: Governor’s Citizen Award. The Lions Club was selected for the award due to their tremendous commitment and service to the Clarissa community.

75 Years Ago

August 23, 1951

H.A. Hemberger of St. Paul, traveling freight agent for the Great Northern Railway Co., and W.H. Rummel, train master of Superior, Wisconsin, called on The Blade Tuesday afternoon and explained that the railroad will petition the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission for authority to discontinue passenger trains 105 and 106, because of the losses encountered through the use of those trains. There will be no change in local freights on this line and a baggage car will be added to the freight train to handle express business.

The Browerville Community Sportsmen Club is sponsoring a benefit dance at the Knotty Pine Coliseum next Tuesday, August 28. Proceeds will be used to buy a movie projector for the high school. A 30-30 Winchester Eagle will be raffled off sometime during the evening. Mark this date on your calendar as a must to attend.
