25 Years Ago

October 31, 1996

The Tigers football team was eliminated from the Section 5C playoffs last Saturday night as they traveled to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg for a section semi-final game. The Tigers finished the season with an overall record of 8-2. The team captured the Prairie Conference Championship with a perfect 6-0 record. The season-ending loss also snapped a 19 game section winning streak dating back to the fall of 1989.

The Eagle Valley Volunteers had a hauntingly good time last weekend at their annual Haunted House. This year about 20 members of the group and various helpers haunted the old Clara Rolf’s place on the north side of Clarissa. It was the perfect location for the haunted house and with admission, at only 50 cents each, it was the perfect activity for little spooks and goblins from the neighborhood.


75 Years Ago

November 2, 1946

A costume party, sponsored by those in Browerville interested in the welfare of the children of the community, entertained all youngsters between the ages of 10 and 14 at a Halloween Party at the city hall on Thursday evening.

The Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters entertained at the city hall on Monday night at their annual Halloween Party. On this occasion, the ladies extended invitations to their husbands and friends to attend. Whist was played throughout the evening with honors going to Mrs. John Kahlert and Joseph Strack. The door prize was awarded to Mrs. Alvis Wolter.
