Miller Sets Course Record as Bears Shine at Dutchmen Invitational

by Coach Kenny Miller
Cool temperatures, a brisk breeze, and flat terrain set the stage for a lightning-fast day of competition as the Bertha-Hewitt cross-country team traveled to Meadowlark Golf Course for the Dutchmen Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Leading the charge for the Bears was Kendra Miller, who stormed to victory in the girls’ varsity race with a new course-record time of 18:44.8. Miller made her move at the 2.1-mile mark, passing previous record-holder Kyla Vick of New London-Spicer and never looking back. Vick, who set the former course mark of 19:24.8 in 2025, finished as the runner-up.
The rest of the girls’ varsity squad turned in standout performances to complete a dominant day. Aulani Johnson clocked a season-best 24:08.2 to place 51st as the team’s second runner. Claire William delivered a massive breakthrough, shaving over two minutes off her personal best to finish 55th in 24:20.5. Rounding out the varsity group, Amelia Current posted a dramatic six-minute improvement, crossing the line in 27:19.0 for 76th place...
