Mural of champions in the new fitness center
A large mural of award-winning athletes from the Bertha-Hewitt School over the decades adorns the wall in the new fitness center at the school. Some familiar faces include the 2006 baseball team, Michael Riewer baseball at NDSU, Arei Stokes basketball, Wendy Kohler basketball, football players Shaun Kuhnke, Kurt Voge, Jeff Moore, Lawrance Rach, and the 1951 Six-Man All-State Football Team, volleyball players Courtney Stach and Jessica Finck, basketball players Dave Reetz, Ryan Denny, Nick Grewe, Paul King, and Mel Boehland, 2001 second place wrestling team, 2021 second place wrestling team and state champion wrestler Joeb Oyster, softball players Stace Sieling and Becky Ward, baseball catcher Jeremy Payne, Amy Nelson, and Dale Finck, track, Shawn Kuhnke, Kirk Voge, Staci Sieling, Wendy Dvorak and Lonnie Stokes. Superintendent Eric Koep noted there is room for more murals and encourages athletes to be pictured on the wall.
