Permanent School Fund Amendment would Change how Minnesota Distributes School Trust Money
Minnesota voters will decide on November 3 whether to change the state Constitution to alter how the Permanent School Fund is invested and how money from the fund is distributed to public schools.
The proposed constitutional amendment, would take effect July 1, 2027, if approved. The amendment would change the constitutional rules governing the fund while leaving its purpose of supporting Minnesota schools in place.
The ballot question asks: “Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to increase the funding going to all school districts from the permanent school fund, which is a fund that supports school districts without raising individual income or property taxes, effective July 1, 2027?”
Not placing a vote on the ballot automatically counts as a “NO” vote. Please, do not leave it blank.
