Pirates Battle Hilly Terrain at Maddens Pine Beach West

On Thursday, September 18, the Verndale Pirates cross country team participated in the Pillager Cross Country meet held at Maddens Pine Beach West golf course.  With some cloud coverage and a light breeze, this was a great day for a race.  The Maddens course is one of the most challenging courses we run, featuring long, building inclines and some steep declines.  

With some of the rule changes to MSHL concerning JH runners, all our athletes ran the varsity meet. Heta Tervola-Hultberg completed the 5k in competition for the first time in 35 minutes and 23 seconds.  Also running the 5k course are Milauna Mensinger, finishing in 35 minutes and 51 seconds; Amiyah Herner, finishing in 39 minutes and 46 seconds; Haylee Horn, completing the course in 34 minutes and 9 seconds; and Angelica Arroyo, finishing with a time of 28 minutes and 56 seconds...
