Pirates Cross Country Team Wraps Up Season at Section 6A Meet

The Verndale Pirates Cross Country team ended their season at the Section 6A meet hosted by Staples-Motley and held at The Vintage Golf Course on Thursday, October 30th. Twenty teams competed to qualify for the state meet on November 7th. The top seven runners and the top two teams qualify to run at the state meet.
Running for the Verndale girls team were Angelica Arroyo, Amiyah Herner, Haylee Horn, Sophie Hjelm, and Heta Tervola-Hultberg. These girls have made great improvements over the year, setting multiple personal goals and new personal records. Angelica Arroyo completed the course in 24 min 20 sec. Haylee Horn set her new personal record for the season, completing the course in 27 min 03 sec. Amiyah Herner also set a personal best for the season, finishing in a time of 32 min 59 sec. Sophie Hjelm, also setting her personal best for the season, completed in 34 min 54 sec. Heta Tervola-Hultberg finished off her season completing this course in 30 min 07 sec...
