Pirates Make Waves at Long Prairie Invitational

On Tuesday, September 15, the Verndale Pirates cross country team participated in the Long Prairie Invitational.  The meet was originally scheduled for Monday, September 14, but was rescheduled due to the weather.  The Long Prairie golf course has its own challenges with plenty of rolling hills and, with the recent rain, some ‘extra’ water features.  The extra day of preparation paid off for the team, with several athletes setting new personal bests for the season.  

The Junior High course for this meet was a 2.5k.  Elliana Mathison ran the course for the girls team, finishing with a time of 16 min 45 sec.  Running for the boys’ team was Sawyer Mayer, who completed the course in 13 min and 01 sec...
