Pirates Season Comes to an End after Heated Battle with Nevis

On Tuesday, the Pirates traveled to Crosby-Ironton High School to face off against the top-seeded Nevis Tigers in the Section 5A Subsection Championship match.

Both teams were evenly matched, trading points, with the lead switching back and forth.

The Pirates came out strong, communicating well and attacking the net, allowing them to take an early lead over the Tigers, winning the first set by a score of 25-20. The Tigers answered by taking the second set, though not before the Pirates made them work for it, by a score of 23-25.

The Pirates were able to bounce back, finding the holes in the Tigers’ defense and playing solid defense of their own to take the third set in a dominant 25-16 victory. As the Pirates were one set away from the Section Championship game, the energy and excitement in the gym was palpable...
