Pirates triumph over Bears, get scrubbed by the Tigers to end season

On Thursday, March 7, the Verndale Boys Basketball Team traveled to Bertha to play the Bertha-Hewitt Bears in the Section 5A West Quarterfinals.
The Pirates came into the game as the 6th seed and had lost the two regular season games to the Bears, but this game would be different.
The Pirates took a 31-25 lead into half-time only to see it disappear shortly into the second half.
The Pirates then went on a 19-2 run in the second half and didn’t look back.
Making free-throws down the stretch was a key to sealing the victory in this one.
Jaden Schulke had 20 points which included going 7 for 8 from the Free-throw line, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals to lead the Pirates....
