Pregnancy & Life Resource Center Continues to Serve the Community

Before most people know what to do next, they’re already overwhelmed.

An unexpected pregnancy can bring questions, fear, and uncertainty.

For the past decade, the Pregnancy & Life Resource Center has been one place in the community of Long Prairie where people can come to slow things down, get answers, and figure out their next step.

The organization, which first began meeting informally among local pastors, was inspired in part by experiences overseas.

Pregnancy and Life Executive Director Peggy Tracey explained. “Jim Towner, who had been a Christian missionary in Spain, saw firsthand the impact of crisis pregnancy centers and brought that vision back to the local community.

“He came to the area to be an interpreter,” she added.

What started as a small group with a shared goal eventually became a formal organization. After spending about a year under the guidance of the St. Cloud Pregnancy Resource Center, the group established itself as an independent nonprofit. The center officially opened in September 2016 and began operating under its own name in October 2017.

From the beginning, leaders say they knew the mission would extend beyond pregnancy testing alone.

“We knew we would be doing more than just pregnancy,” Tracey noted...
