Raiders Compete at Section 6A East Sub-Section Meet

The Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale Raider boys track and field team competed in the MSHSL Section 6A East Sub-Section Meet on Thursday, May 21. The Raiders finished sixth out of 13 teams with 58 points. Sauk Centre claimed the team title with 120 points.

The Raiders were led by several strong performances in both individual and relay events.

In the distance races, Brady Rach captured a sub-section championship in the 800-meter run, while Gunnar Barthel added a fifth-place finish in the same event. Henry Lockwood earned another individual title for the Raiders by winning the 3200-meter run. Nolan Rach placed second in the 3200 meters, while Vance Lockwood added a seventh-place finish.

Tristan Adams earned a sixth-place medal in the 300-meter hurdles, while Brady Messer placed fifth in the high jump. Dylan Day narrowly missed a medal in the shot put with a ninth-place finish.

The Raiders also had success in relay competition. The 4x400-meter relay team of Tristan Adams, Gunnar Barthel, Jakub Stovicek, and Brady Rach captured first place.
