The Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale Raiders Track and Field team traveled to St. Michael-Albertville High School on Tuesday, June 10, to compete in the Class A State Track and Field Meet. Representing the Raiders were Brady Rach in the 1600 meter and 800 meter runs, along with Lezah Dean, Miette Hansel, Kendra Miller, and Piper Dean in the 4x800 meter relay.
Day one began with Brady Rach competing in the preliminary round of the 800 meter run.
Racing in the first of three heats, Brady delivered a strong and composed performance, cruising to a heat victory in 1:55.87 and securing his spot in the event final the following day.
This would be the only event the Raiders competed in on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s competition opened under rainy conditions, which continued throughout the first hour of events.
The Raiders girls kicked things off in the 4x800 meter relay final.
Piper Dean led the team out of the gate, running a strong opening leg and handing off in 7th place to Miette Hansel....
