News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

April 30, 1997

Lorraine Brunn who has been the Director of the Eagle Bend Senior Center for the past eight years took a leave of the position and will be working with her husband at the Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp in Fort Collins, Colorado. Pictured with the quilt the senior women have been working on for the raffle are Lorraine Brunn, Evelyn Cossentine and Dorothy Peterson. Not pictured who also worked on the quilt are Edith Westergren, Reva Anderson, Mary Porter, Irene Perry and Ethel Pooler.

“Kids are my life,” said Nancy Johnson, the 1997 Outstanding Layperson in Education from Eagle Vally Public School. “I either answer to ‘Mom’ or ‘Nancy’.” She has been “Nancy” for the past 19 years to students, first from the Clarissa district and now the students from Eagle Valley High School.


50 Years Ago

April 27, 1972

The annual District 10 PTA Spring Conference was held at the Eagle Bend High School on Tuesday, April 18, with approximately 35 in attendance. Rev. James Zellers lead with devotions and Mr. Earl, high school principal and Mrs. Dwight Godding, local visitors. Guests for the afternoon and evening sessions were introduced by Mrs. E.H. Smith, District 10 president. They were Mrs. Donna Wroe, district president from Togo, Mr. Mike Diem, state vice-president, and Mr. Paul Mork, state president-elect.

Thirteen boys turned out for the Eagle Bend “Eagles” High School baseball team. Seven of the 13 are lettermen from last year. Leading the list are two seniors” Charles Mansager (pitcher-catcher) and John Pontius (outfielder-pitcher).
