May 29 turned out to be quite a day for Elsie Gustafson! When she arrived at the school bus garage, Eagle Valley Transportation Owners Tammy and Paul Cebulla had a continental breakfast waiting. It was quite a way to begin your last day of work as a school bus driver. That afternoon, as the drivers prepared to return the students to their homes, another surprise was waiting for her. Gustafson’s fellow drivers: Bob Solid, Gwen Klimek and Barb Billareal, presented her with balloons and a miniature yellow school bus. She had been driving a school bus for 19 years, 13 of those for Watertown-Mayer, and serving Eagle Bend since 1991.

The Eagle Valley track team has ended its season. Many of these athletes learned that hard work and dedication make success whether it was reaching a certain goal or earning a ribbon. Many tracksters accomplished their goal. The team voted on three awards for both girls and boys. The most improved were Rhonda Brekke and Matt Lundstrom. Best attitude went to Jenny Serbus and J.J. Korfe. The best work horse went to Jessica Serbus and Scott Bican.
