On Monday afternoons for the past six weeks, the third graders at Eagle Valley Elementary School have been learning about the Food Guide Pyramid. They have made and or tasted food from all of the food groups and learned what these foods do for their bodies. They have also talked about food safety tips. Wanda Hommerding and Joan Denny worked with Pat Ervasti, the nutrition education assistant from the Todd County Extension office, on this “fun with food” series.

On Monday, November 9, seven members of the Eagle Valley FLA Chapter attended the Fall Region meeting. The members that attended were: Amanda Crider, Christene Kunerth, Jackie Schultz, Amy Stone, Candi Pooler, Nikki Reed and Joisan Hairsine. A federal grant, in the amount of $41,000, which the village council tried to obtain, has been rejected. There were 43 applications received from municipalities in the state of Minnesota for this grant. Eagle Bend came up number 35 on this priority list, and there were only 15 grants allowed in the state. They based the concentration for the grant on the fact that the Eagle Creek has a stream pollution problem.

The Citizens State Bank of Eagle Bend was presented a Certificate of Award by the U.S. Treasury Department for outstanding savings bond sales for the year of 1956.
