News from Eagle Bend's Past


25 Years Ago

July 7, 1999

A large crowd turned out Saturday afternoon to enjoy the Eagle Bend Lions Tractor Pull. There were over 150 pulls made under the hot sun over a six hour period. Tractor pull results will be in next week’s paper. Pictured is one of the modified tractors entertaining the crowd with lots of black smoke and loud noise.

A flag football league is being organized for ages 15 though adult. Teams need a minimum of six players and ideally should have eight. Games will be played in the evenings and will be played on July 27, August 3, 10 and 12. If you are interested, contact Tom Murch.


45 Years Ago

July 11, 1979

Tony Lee Arvidson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Arvidson, former residents, but now of Long Prairie, graduated from the University of Minnesota, Saturday, June 15, with a B.A. Degree from the College of Liberal Arts. Patrick Redmond received a B.S. Degree, and had graduated in June.

The final band concert of the summer will be presented Saturday night, July 13, in the Village Park at 8 p.m. This is your invitation to attend a cool, relaxing evening of good music and fellowship. The band is under the direction of Mr. Donn Harris. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the high school auditorium.
