Austin Murch, a junior at Eagle Valley High School, was awarded the Bausch and Lomb Science Award. This award is given to the top science student in the school. Murch received a certificate and a medal for his accomplishments. He was nominated by the science department consisting of Mr. Yarwood, Mrs. Meyer and Mr. Rapatz.

Congratulations to Theresa Krause, eighth grade student at Eagle Valley High School, who entered and won the “Respecteen Speak for Yourself Contest.” Mr. Hest teaches the curriculum which concludes with students writing a letter to their U.S. Representative. The Respecteen curriculum encourages students to learn about and participate in the American political process. Theresa wrote to Representative Collin Peterson about the farm situation and how it affects her family and other families.

The Eagle Bend Eagles baseball team used the bat of Russ Erickson, the pitching of Bryan Olson and John Hosmer, plus the arm of center-fielder Monte Hinzmann to upset Grey Eagle 6-5 for third place in the Prairie Conference tournament.

Gilberto Blendl, foreign exchange student from Mexico City, Mexico, donated five musical albums and two booklets to the Eagle Bend School library. Mrs. Lonna Stevenson, school librarian, graciously accepted the donation on behalf of the school. Gilberto wished to leave the records and booklets so that Eagle Bend students would have more access to Mexican culture.
