Miles of Smiles Daycare in Eagle Bend opened its doors on August 28, 2000. The owner, Cindy Kaumans, said she started the business because she wanted to be home more with her family. Previously, Cindy had been the manager at Champ’s in Eagle Bend for a year. She is currently licensed for 10 children, but she does have some openings available.

Liz Westergren has owned and operated Eagle Bend Floral and now Eagle Bend Floral and Gifts for about eight years. She has been at her present location on Main Street in Eagle Bend for about six and a half years. The shop Liz currently calls home, the former Eagle Bend Bakery, was put up for sale. Liz said, “If the building sells, I will cross that bridge when I have to. I ran the business from my home before. I will make my decision at the time of the sale of the building if something doesn’t come up before.

September 11, 1975
Jerry Lorentz, a resident of Wadena, is now starting a body shop in Eagle Bend. Jerry is renting Lindy Heldt’s warehouse building. He is now preparing the building for the new work, but hopes to be open for business soon. Jerry will do body repair, painting and install glass on all makes of autos and trucks. He has done body repair and painting for several years and was on his own in his father’s Ralph Lorentz’s garage in Wadena for a year. He has all the tools and equipment to do a professional job on your autos, trucks and tractors.

Sophomore fullback Bryan Olson carried the ball 16 times for 276 yards while scoring two touchdowns in a 20-6 win over the Menahga Braves last Thursday.
