October 18, 2000

Jared Voge likes horses. He’s been showing them since fifth grade. He is a junior at Eagle Valley High School this year. This is the first year Jared has shown at the American Quarter Horse Youth Association, part of the American Quarter Horse Association. This year’s show was held in Fort Worth, Texas. Jared placed seventh out of 20 entries. He and his horse had to earn nine points in AQHA approved shows to be eligible to participate. He is up for several awards including Rookie of the Year for both state and national levels.

Church youth groups gathered on Sunday, October 8, for a brisk old fashioned hayride along the country roads of Eagle Bend. Youth, leaders and pastors from Faith Lutheran (who sponsor the ride) and Shepherd of the Valley spent the afternoon in fellowship. The day ended with hot chocolate and ‘smores at the Tim and Sharon Notch home. The next community-wide youth event will be a skiing trip in January.

50 Years Ago

October 23, 1975

The Eagle Bend High School Marching Band presented a half-time show at each of the four home games of the Eagle Bend football team. This band is one of the few bands in Todd County performing as a marching band at every home game. A pregame show at each game featured the Eagle School Song, the school song of the visiting school and the Star Spangled Banner.

On October 7, 1975, during the Eagle Bend Association monthly meeting, three outstanding long-term members were honored. Ella Lindquist, Martha Roach and Harold Nohre each received an honorary membership into the association entailing them to full membership with rights to participate in all meetings and activities.
