News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

May 2, 2001

Richard Oelrich, rural Eagle Bend, was injured in a power take off (PTO) accident on April 24. He reached across the PTO shaft and it caught his overalls, shirt and t-shirt and they were ripped right off him. His neck was rubbing on the PTO going full force. He was able to use his cell phone to call 911 for help. He had multiple abrasions and a fractured left side scapula.

Eagle Valley High School is proud to announce that a seventh grader, Angelina Hodge, was selected as the winner of the 7th Congressional District portion of the Speak For Yourself Contest. This contest, sponsored by Lutheran Brotherhood, is a yearly contest for junior high students who choose a topic that they are concerned about, research the topic and then write a letter to their congressman. Hodge wrote about fetal tissue research. She wrote a very strong letter asking Congressman Peterson to consider laws that would limit the use of fetal tissue in research.

50 Years Ago

May 6, 1976

Hess White Farm Implement has been named the franchised dealer for Gehl farm machinery in this area. The announcement was made jointly by Gehl company officials at West Bend, Wisconsin and their area representative in this area, Estel E. Rasmussen of Fergus Falls.

Kurt Nelson, a member of the Eagle Bend PTSA, was presented an Honorary Life Membership during the April 24 banquet and program at the 53rd annual convention of the Minnesota Parent Teacher Student Association.
