As part of Older Americans Month, the Minnesota Board on Aging sponsors an annual essay contest for sixth graders on the topic, “My Grandparents” or “My Best Older Friend.” The Eagle Bend Senior Center and Nutrition Site sponsored the contest for Eagle Valley sixth graders. The winners, Rachel Wagner and Ryan Kasper, were invited, along with their parents and grandparents, to a supper meal at the Eagle Bend Senior Center on May 24 where they read their essay and received a prize.

The South Sub-section 6A Tournament was held at Fergus Falls Pebble Lake Golf Course for both the boys and girls teams. Both Lindsey Dickinson and Mary Brichacek shot 105 totals which tied them for 11th place overall and made them the fourth and fifth place individuals to advance.
50 Years Ago
June 10, 1976
Melvin Lloyd, the local vo-ag instructor at Eagle Bend, was a recipient of the 1976 Agriculture Service Award given by the Minnesota Safety Council at the Governor’s Safety Conference held recently in Minneapolis. The award was presented by Lieutenant Governor Rudy Perpich.

David Stark, MMEA local vice president, recently informed Val Hosmer, a member of the Eagle Bend High School concert choir, of her acceptance into the All-State Choir. Val is the daughter of Orie and Marvel Hosmer of Eagle Bend.
