News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

July 18, 2001

The July 9 agenda for the Eagle Valley School Board meeting was short. But the meeting actually wasn’t as the board studied suggestions for cutting measures. Declining enrollment, uncertainty about the amount of state aid they will be receiving and the high fuel costs from the past winter, have them wondering how to maintain a full curriculum, the multitude of extra-curricular activities and still balance the budget.

If Kim Lind ever decides to individually photograph her flowers, she could put out her own catalog! The judges, on behalf of the Petal Pushers Garden Club, chose Lind’s place on 3rd Avenue Northwest as July’s Spot of the Month. She received a $20 check from an anonymous donor and will have the sign in her yard until August’s winner is announced.

50 Years Ago

July 22, 1976

Kevin Ehnes of the Eagle Bend FFA Chapter at the Eagle Bend High School, is attending a National FFA Bicentennial Conference in Washington, D.C. this week. The week-long Washington conference is being held at the National FFA Center near the nation’s capitol.

Valerie Hosmer of Eagle Bend will be participating in the Minnesota All-State Choir.
