At the regular Todd County Commissioners meeting held on February 3, the commissioners approved replacing the movable wall at the Expo Building for $18,875 from Eagle Fabricating. The building is used for the county fair, ice hockey, and various other organizations use it.
The movable wall is moved two to three times a year. The original wood frame is very heavy, requires a large crew to move, and is dangerous when moving.
The new wall will be constructed on site and built with all aluminum framing on wheels with a hinge system.
Commissioner Becker asked if organizations using the facility would be able to request grant funding to pay for the cost.
Mitch Johnson, Facilities, stated he didn’t ask renters as he understood the building to be the responsibility of the county to maintain.
Auditor-Treasurer Gaida stated the Ag Society has a list of items they are working on for the Expo Building and that doesn’t include a wall.
Commissioner Becker added that she verifies the unsafeness of the wall and that it requires many individuals to move the current wall.
Commissioner Neumann asked when would they start on the project?
Johnson stated it would be constructed after the end of the hockey season and before the fair...
