Search for missing man ends in tragedy

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office requested the public’s assistance in locating a missing man on July 16.

Samuel Waln, 30, was last seen around 4 p.m. on July 12 traveling eastbound on Highway 10 in Wadena in a white 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was wearing a green long sleeve shirt, gray baseball cap, dark pants and white Nike tennis shoes.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a vehicle matching the description of the Jeep referenced in the missing person investigation had been located. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the vehicle was a match.

A search of the area was conducted and a deceased male was located approximately 240 feet above the ground on a tower located in Section 28 of Rockwood Township....
