Splish-Splash Dreams: Eagle Bend Splashpad work continues in spite of disappointment

by Karin L Nauber

A splashpad is not an inexpensive endeavor—not if you want it built right.

The much anticipated splashpad project in Eagle Bend has gone through some changes over the past couple of years since it has been on the radar for the city.

While about $70,000 has been raised to go toward the current configuration a lot more is needed.

It was while Sharon Milbrett of Eagle Bend was on a vacation in Montana with her family that the idea for creating a splashpad in her hometown was conceived.

Since then the Eagle Bend Fire Department Auxiliary has raised approximately $70,000. They have been holding fundraisers since the fall of 2022.

“In 2024 so far we have conducted [several fundraisers] a Purse/Yeti Bingo; Pancake Breakfast; Raffle; Vendor Fair at Eagle Bend Days and David Rolstad with his bead sales. Additional fundraisers are being planned to help raise the potential ‘match’ needed for this project,” said Sharon Notch who has been tirelessly helping out her friend along with the help of the entire Eagle Bend Fire Department Auxiliary.

They aren’t working alone.

“We have had support from Todd County Council on Aging, and local donors/businesses as well.

“Milbrett eluded to this, but without many of our fire department members several of our fundraisers would not have been as successful either.

“Dan Milbrett, Todd Wolf and retired fire department member Steve Weishair have fried pancakes for us on their Blackstone’s during our Pancake Feed Fundraisers; and Jeff Warren is our famous Bingo Caller for our Purse/Yeti events,” said Notch.

It really is a community effort....
