The Verndale School Board held their regular meeting on Monday, June 2.

Administrative Reports

Principal Katie Bolland reported that 88 students were recognized at the B’s or Better Breakfast on May 15. Graduation was held on May 23, and 34 seniors received diplomas.

Phase one of LETRS training is complete. High-Reliability Schools Level 4 Vision Trip to Westminster, Colorado, will be held October 6-8 with staff members Matt Parker, Alicia Jones, Rachel Bounds, and Alex Anderson attending, with the cost covered by Sourcewell.

Four applicants have applied for the administrative assistant position.

Bolland reflected on the new cell on-the-phone policy. Bolland reported positive outcomes, including improved student interactions, increased social engagement, and unexpected benefits like students learning new card games and building stronger relationships with each other and staff. This contributed to the record number of students for the B’s or Better Breakfast.

Superintendent Jeannie Mayer discussed several key topics. West Central conducted a comprehensive camera walk-through, identifying 17 camera locations needing updates, which will cost an estimated $13,000. The audit revealed significant blind spots, particularly outside areas like the football field, recess area, and parking lots.

She reported potential discussions about cross-country pairing with Parkers Prairie and Bertha-Hewitt, though no formal conversations have occurred yet....
