Tigers roar back: Softball clinches thrilling win in playoff opener

After a couple of days of rain showers delayed the beginning of the Section 6A playoffs, the #5 seeded Browerville/Eagle Valley Tigers softball team finally opened up the postseason last Thursday when they traveled to Upsala to take on the #4 seeded Cardinals.
Both teams exploded offensively in the first two innings, and the Tigers trailed 5-6 going into the 3rd inning. Both pitchers settled in the rest of the way, and B/EV scraped across a run to tie it in the 4th and another run in the top of the 7th inning to take the lead and win the game by a final of 7-6.
Senior Ava Lorentz had two hits to pace the Tigers bats, and Sophomore Bristol Bruder pitched all 7 innings to get the win.
Because of the rain and unplayable field conditions in Browerville, Friday morning’s games were moved to Swanville, where Browerville faced a tough matchup against the #1 seeded Swanville Bulldogs....
