Todd County Planning Commission Refines Proposed Cannabis Ordinance

Todd County officials continue to refine how cannabis businesses will be regulated locally, as the Planning Commission this month reviewed and updated proposed amendments to Article XII: Regulations on Cannabis Businesses within the Todd County Planning and Zoning Ordinance.
The discussion builds on prior meetings and reflects growing urgency among county leaders to establish clear rules before additional cannabis business applications are submitted.
Key Changes Under Consideration
The Planning Commission focused on five primary areas of the ordinance, making several notable revisions and setting the stage for further updates at the April 2 meeting.
Security Requirements Clarified
Local law enforcement raised no concerns about proposed security provisions. Todd County Sheriff Mike Allen indicated cannabis businesses typically rely on private security systems, with the sheriff’s office included on emergency call lists when incidents occur. Language was added requiring security plans to include direct alert systems to local law enforcement.
Zoning Restrictions Tightened
