Trailer home lost to fire
On Thursday, February 17, at approximately 4 p.m., the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a trailer house was on fire located in Section 8 of Orton Township.
Upon the arrival of the first emergency personnel, it was found that the trailer home was fully engulfed in flames and no one was inside.
Due to the driveway not being plowed and the small yard, fire personnel was forced to be on standby until a plow could open up the driveway. The responding fire departments and the Wadena County Highway Department worked together to get the driveway opened up at which point the fire was extinguished.
It is believed that the fire was caused by a wood-burning stove. The home was a complete loss.
The Sebeka Fire Department, Menahga Fire Department, Menahga Police Department, Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, Wadena County Highway Department, and Tri-County Ambulance all responded to this incident.
