Verndale Band and Choir enjoyed trip to Texas

by Trinity Gruenberg

The Verndale Band and Choir took a trip to Austin, Texas from March 27 through April 1. They had originally planned on traveling to New York but chose a different location due to COVID restrictions.

The students loaded the buses Sunday morning for the 21-hour trip to Texas where sunny skies and hot temperatures awaited them.

On Monday, they arrived in San Antonio and took in the movie “The Price of Freedom” on IMAX and then stretched their legs walking around The Alamo. The self-guided tour took the students around a key point of Texas history where a small group of Texans held out for thirteen days against General Antonio López de Santa Anna.

After the tour, they enjoyed some free time around the canal and met at the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner which was followed by a Go Rio River Canal Cruise. . .
