They are a little bit behind schedule as they were supposed to be done at the end of June. They will have to wait for the heat of summer to pass before seeding grass.
The new tower came in a little under budget.
Economic Alliance Update
Katie Heppner of the Economic Alliance gave the council a mid-year update. With several projects in the works, their online coffee talks are on hold until September. With 10 sessions held so far this year, they had 194 log-ins.
Four program events were offered with over 80 attendees. They are recorded and available on their website. They also started the Small Business Welcome Wagon which is a thank you for investing in the county and small business community.
Initiatives include the housing task force, childcare in Wadena County with targeted community projects, and the Welcoming Communities Advocacy group. There is still $2500 in grant funds available to use for employers and businesses to become more welcoming and inclusive, such as adding wheelchair ramps or a bilingual staff member. This initiative was started by Region 5 and the city of Staples was awarded $10,000. Staples opened it up to the county. . .
