Verndale City Council: Sewer Line Discovery Sparks $4000 Dilemma: Who Pays For Repairs?

The Verndale City Council held their regular meeting on January 8.
Sewer Line Connection Found
Stacey Dahlvang of Nu Look Salon reported the sewer main connection was found under the sidewalk. She was quoted $4000 to tear it up to be able to hook up to the line. It was not accessible without ripping out that part of the sidewalk.
Public Works Supervisor Matt Uselman explained it’s on the property owners as they own the line out to the main, and she would be responsible for paying to hook it up and replace the damaged sidewalk.
Stacy said the $4000 is not something she could afford. She is hoping the city will pay for the concrete.
The council didn’t see how they could help with the sidewalk replacement as they wouldn’t do that or repave a road when a home or business owner has to repair lines....
