Verndale Council Backs New Scoreboard, Eyes Townwide Security Cameras

The Verndale City Council held their regular meeting on Monday, May 12.

Public Works 

Public Works Supervisor Matt Uselman reported that the school would like to split the cost of a new scoreboard for the baseball field. The total cost is $8922; the city’s share would be $4461 plus the electrician. The school would like the city to purchase the scoreboard and bill the school. The cost of the scoreboard and the electrician was approved. 

Approved to put the 1995 snowplow on the fire department auction. 

Uselman explained that they have many logs at the city brush pile, and people have asked if they could take them or cut firewood. Uselman doesn’t have an issue, other than potential liability. He suggested having people sign a waiver or deliver, which was previously done with the excess black dirt from last year. The tentative decision was to explore selling the logs, potentially to a logger who could safely remove them. Matt suggested measuring the logs to determine their cord value and setting a reasonable price. The goal was to break even or recover some cost while clearing the substantial pile....
