Veterans Memorial Project Honors Service, Brings Community Together

A vision that began several years ago by members of American Legion Post 213 is now taking shape at the Clarissa Memorial Park. The project, which includes a redesigned and expanded memorial space, aims to honor veterans from all branches of the United States military through a meaningful and lasting tribute.

Plans for the park include a display of flags representing each military branch, a metal archway marking the entrance to the memorial, a set of granite memorial benches, and a large Freedom Rock featuring a hand-painted mural. The rock, sourced from a neighboring farm, will be painted this spring by Sue Kent.

Groundwork began in late summer and continued through the fall, including excavation, laying colored concrete, and positioning the Freedom Rock. Volunteers and local contractors provided essential assistance throughout the process.
