Light Pole Replacement
in Sebeka
Sebeka City Council Member Josh Connor explained that a county snowplow hit a light pole on Main Street over the winter, shearing it off at the base and damaging the underground wiring and conduit. The city obtained quotes for repair. The light pole was not insured by the city. However, MCIT (the county’s insurance provider) depreciated it and offered only partial payment, leaving the city short by $2,225.55.
After discussion, the board agreed that the county should cover the remaining cost. The board viewed this as the right thing to do. Commissioner Murlyn Kreklau noted it was a small expense compared to other county projects, and the board should support the city’s infrastructure needs.
The reimbursement was approved, with the understanding that the highway department would be invoiced for the remaining repair costs.
Budget Update
Auditor/Treasurer Heather Olson provided an update on the county budget process. Due to a scheduling conflict and an oversight in posting a notice, the planned 1 p.m. budget meeting would not be held....
